Activity April




 The following is a  reading comprehension activity, please pay attention to every word in the poem. You should hand in this activity on April the 1st.  

What Kitten Sees

Twinkling stars in skies of green, (1)
Sparkling heavens, jeweled scene. (2)
Drips of silver glimmer bright, (3)
Wondrous streams of glowing light.   (4)
Angels floating - haloed heads; (5)
Clouds of glass in blues and reds. (6)
Now I know what kitten sees, (7)
From underneath the Christmas tree! (8)

1.   What is this poem mostly about?
A. a kitten playing with Christmas tree ornaments
B. someone getting a kitten for Christmas
C. a kitten looking up at the decorations on a tree
D. a kitten looking up at the stars in the sky

2.    The first line of the poem says:
“Twinkling stars in skies of green,”
             Why does the poet say the sky is green?

3.    Line 6 mentions “clouds of glass in blues and reds.”  What is this referring to?

4. Why do you think a Christmas tree would be exciting to a kitten?

5.  On the back of this paper, describe what a kitten might see if it were looking up at a tree outside on a warm, summer day
